It was a quiet Monday night at Native Son Alehouse in Santa Ana. I was able to get the crew to change the (reasonably dreadful) music. The bar has a Spotify account, so I suggested jazz. So, they played (at my suggestion) Dave Brubeck's "Time Out" (1959) and Miles Davis's "Kind of Blue" (also 1959) back-to-back. They were impressed when I told them that Brubeck's album was the first jazz album to sell a million copies. They laughed when I told them that jazz "classed up the joint."

That's me: educating the young hipsters!
