Seeing Joshua's new avatar made me think we should have a beard competition since we are all stuck at home. (I haven't trimmed at all during my four-week quarantine.) I thought we could call it The Shutdown Shave Challenge, unless someone has a better one. Here is my 'before'.

I went the other way. I’ve had a Van Dyke style goatee since the mid 90s but went clean shaven since covid-19 came along.

I was distracted by that Joel Osteen book just above your head!

Your secrets are safe with me friend. Lol.

Lol. I’ll make you a good deal on it! My mom got that for my wife years ago. I’ll wrap and and send it while she’s asleep.

That's hilarious! My mother gave my wife Beth Moore's Get Out of That Pit a while back and it's been collecting dust in some forgotten corner of my basement. I'll try and find it and take a "Shutdown Shave" selfie while holding it as a prop. Maybe afterwards we can livestream a joint book burning party or something.

I had a pretty epic beard before this whole thing started, and then shaved it off. When everything started shutting down I thought, "I should grow a beard!" So, thanks for nudge! ;)

I totally shaved out of love for my family so my N95 face mask would fit more snugly and be safer. I was smooth as a baby for a day. Then my daughter said my face was shaped like a potato without a beard and my wife said that beard-shaving was not a unilateral decision but needed wifely input, so now 2 weeks later my beard is back and now I plan to go full viking.

No need to go clean shaven so a mask fits. I remember reading about one corporal who had ample facial hair during World War I, but after he got gassed, he just trimmed down to just a narrow mustache that wasn't as wide as his lips.

I suggest those of you all who want to cut down try using his pattern. It certainly didn't impair his military career.

Not counting trims, I last shaved in 2010. I kind of want to, but my beard grows so slowly I can't ever pull the trigger.

I think you mean the "toothbrush," a CDC approved facial hairstyle to wear with a mask: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/pdfs/FacialHairWmask11282017-508.pdf
