The celebrated Prince of the Puritans died this day , August 24 th , 1683. He was born in 1616 . He wrote almost as much as Richard Baxter but was sounder in his Calvinism . Dr. Owen was a friend and supporter of the Baptist John Bunyan in a time period where it was certainly not the thing to do . Owen helped frame the Savoy Declaration which had minor adjustments from the Westminster Confession of Faith . His most famous book had to be : " The Death of Death in the Death of Jesus Christ " .
