I must confess I have never read Thomas Watson. But with all the excitement over RHB’s release of his complete works, I figure I ought to read something by him. What is something short by him, 20-50 pages (including excerpts from longer works), that I should read to get a taste of his style and where I should prioritize him compared to Knox, Owen, Flavel, Warfield, Edwards, and others who I’m considering diving into more deeply? Thanks.

Banner of Truth recently came out with a small “Pocket Puritans” book titled Wise Sayings by Thomas Watson compiled with some notable quotes he had across various subjects; I have enjoyed to carry it around. And if you changed your mind about the length you can’t go wrong with Body of Divinity.

I'd put Watson at the top of that list and pick anything.

"A weak faith can lay hold on a strong Christ" - Thomas Watson

I recommend reading his sermon “Duty of Self Denial.” That was helpful for me, and is well within your length requirement.

I have read him on Repentance, The Lord’s Supper, and (almost finished) Heaven Taken By Storm. I say the excitement is justly warranted.

Watson has so much great stuff. You can’t go wrong with anything of his.

But Body of Divinity is one nice place to start.

Just read his Mischief of Sin and it was pretty good, but not AMAZING like Mortification by Owen. Looking forward to reading more.

I only read 3: Heaven Taken By Storm, Divine Cordial, and Godly Man's Picture Drawn with a Scripture Pencil

I loved every word of each one, but God in his providence used the last most in my own personal life.
