This is rich. Look at the fourth verse:

We thank you for leaders, courageous and brave,
Who know that the earth is worth fighting to save,
Who care about justice and what they should do,
Who listen to science and work hard for you.

I think we need to flex every poetic muscle we have on this board to write a hymn in response. @Reformed Covenanter, I summon you to this task.

My pastor got us started with a nice sixth verse:

Okay, let's be honest, we worship false gods.
We much prefer bowing to trees and dust clods,
For that's where our hope lies. We pray you'll be well.
Please join us and sing as we're headed for hell.

It's crazy how politics has invaded every sphere of life. I'm thankful I don't really see it in my experience of life around me. At our church, no one talks about covid, vaccines, masks, climate change, homosexuality, Biden, or anything like that. Any of those sensitive topics are just left out.

The end of line 2 goes to the heart of the AGW movement. The destruction of free markets.

To anti-capitalists, greed is you wanting to keep your own money, and virtue is demanding other people’s money.

But the greatest of gases that poisons our souls
Comes not from our Nissans but from our own holes!
From one end we send flatus befouling our sky
From the other, poor poesy that makes poets cry.

I just listened to a very interesting discussion on post-millennialism. It had a lot to do with how Christians should be involved in caring for the world. I might start a thread on that topic, because it really opened my eyes to some things to think about.

Of course we should care for the earth! It shows God's power as the heavens declare his glory. Man was to care for the creation though the task became near impossible after the fall. Yet he was to rescue the creatures when the evil of man resulted in the flood; the first signs that God's wrath had been assuaged came in the form of leaves and birds.

However, we should never be confused by the modern pantheism that conflates God with his creation, or the call for man to save the earth by his own power, or the outright denial of man as God's image bearer by relegating us to another particularly parasitic carbon life form.

I agree that Christians should be involved with caring for the world. I do this typically from next week through around March. I will begin culling the herd starting November 6th. After that I move on to hogs that destroy millions of dollars in crops ever year.

Just doing my part. No need to thank me.

I mean, let's be honest... if anyone was going to pen this "hymn", it was bound to be the PC-USA or the United Methodists.:whatswrong:

Forgive my pathetic attempt at humor...
I'm sure it can be picked apart, and done better too...

The climate it changes, that's by definition
We've lost all our minds, now it's come to fruition
The weather does change, it ebbs and it flows
But we doubt that God, is Sovereign below

The 70s were cold, the ice age we feared
We ranted and raved, but no change appeared
Stir up the masses, the time has now passed
It's warmer and warmer, from that carbon gas

The plants they will use it, and oxygen make
The oceans absorb it, the excess will take
The earth remains balanced, for God made it so
It's decreed forever, 'till God lets it go

Oh Lord make us faithful, enlighten our eyes
To see through the evil, deception, and lies
The money, the greed, the prosperous gain
The wicked abusing, and using your name

The earth is the Lord's, and always will last
Until the last trumpet, has sounded the blast
The old pass away, the new earth will come
And Jesus our Savior, will welcome us home

Blessings!

Onward Bill Gates' soldiers!
In the climate war,
With the whines of Greta
Going on before.
Gates, the Microsoft Master,
Leads the carbon foe;
Forward into battle,
See, Ms Thunberg go!

Onward Bill Gates' soldiers!
In the climate war,
With the whines of Greta
Going on before.

Extra credit for working Klaus Schwab into the hymn.

The climate be changing
Or so the liberals will say
We need to be sanging
And destroying gigantic bails of hay

The hay is the main culprit
We must take this to heart
Proclaim it from the pulpit
We must not allow any cow to fart

I don't see the humour to be honest, but it doesn't need any. Excellent poem.
