I once got to look at the rings of Saturn through the telescope at the US Naval Observatory. It was awesome!

I have a 10" newtonian telescope that is ok, but it shows saturn as a bright yellow circle w rings. It is amazing. Not as good as what you saw from the Naval observ, but for a poor man telescope I was quite pleased.
