Block Universe Theory

I'm taking a module on philosophy of time after Christmas, so looking forward to checking back in here when I gain a little more knowledge on the topic. One thing I remember A-theorists raising against B-theory is that it entails eternalism (an eternal universe). I don't know enough yet to comment.

Both of these are limited in perspective. God accommodates Himself to us. He doesn't lift us up to see through His eyes.

Amen?

Thanks for confirming the underlying foundation in my position when I did a bit of science once?

Or was this meant to imply science (as you earlier placed in quotes for some reason) needs to be silent in the area of cosmology?

Starting after Christmas? You will probably have to start a new thread by then. If you see the video in the OP, you will see that it is possible to hold B-theory and be convinced of the heat death of the universe without necessarily including a contradiction in regards to the flow of time.

Paul Helm accepts eternalism (link).

Interesting. Eternal God has been on my never-ending reading list for a while. I've only read an excerpt from it in which he was defending God's timelessness, but it didn't deal with his view of creation itself. I suspect it will be bumped up when I take this module.

I lent out my copy of that book and never received it back, but as I recall, in the link I provided in my last post (as well as this one) are actual chapters in the book.

I reviewed it here, but issues like A/B theories of time are probably over my head.

Not silent; but humble. In the language of God to Job 38:4, "Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding."
