I would say get a Kindle unless you use Logos/Monergism too. Then it may be best to request a BOOX. They have some in the $150-$250 range. But the good thing with a BOOX is it is an E-Ink tablet. Which means you can read all your Kindle, Logos, and Monergism books all through their native Android apps.

Have you had success using BOOX with Logos? I like the idea, but am worried it won't run fast enough, especially on the cheaper models?

I havent bought one yet, but there have been plenty of people on the Logos threads, etc. that have testified to its use. Here is a video here, from some folks from Logos specifically talking about it. I think the overall idea is, that if Android apps can run no problem on your phone, they will run no problem on a BOOX. I have tested all 3, i.e. Monergism/Kindle/Logos app on my $40 Wal-Mart Android, and they run fine. My phone just isn't E-Ink like a BOOX.

I have owned Boox devices for a good few years and currently make regular use of a Go 10.3 model. Be a little careful before assuming you will have no hiccups with an e-ink device for Logos. I don’t use Logos personally, but having tried on a previous Boox device (an old Note Air model) and had lots of software issues with the Logos app (although this was a few years ago). The top of the line large models nowadays will probably handle it fine, but even then you would have to deal with the slow refresh of e-ink, which makes things like scrolling less smooth, and you will have to spend a good deal of time learning how to optimise an e-ink device for various apps. There is a learning curve on a Boox which you don’t have on a typical Kindle.

I don't know if screen space is going to equate to more processing power? It may have to do more with the needed specs to run the Logos app (which I think now are Android 10 or 11?) then it is a "bigger model" just for size sake. Tons of people on the Logos sites swear by it. So I dunno?

I had an old (circa 2014) BOOX device that has since died but it happily ran OliveTree (my preferred Bible app) without too much sluggishness. As that was over a decade ago you should ok to run Logos for Android just fine.
I currently use the Onyx Boox Go 10.3, and I use the Logos app. I've had no problems whatsoever, especially since it's just the Android version of the app.

To be fair the problems I had were probably with the app itself where there was a log-in issue, rather than the device itself.
The reason I caution people before they spend money on an expense e-ink device is that many people are unaware of the display technology limitations. I absolutely love e-ink. It's fantastic for my eyes (I get eye strain and headaches on typical screens), and the "slowness" is a feature that means I am less distracted, whilst allowing one to read and write with access to any PDF or e-book on the internet. But it's not for everyone, so I recommend people at least see what it looks like hands-on first.

An island is always a great gift. I'd advise thinking about what would get you more time to focus on the things you like to do, as that's easier to get right.
Regarding e-ink devices, what size do you need to get in order to have something good for reading PDFs formatted for A4 paper? Been discussing getting either a tablet or an e-ink tablet for that, not planning on any use beyond pdfs and epubs so older devices should be fine (CeX will be carefully watched from now on).
