One Night with the King

I saw an interview with one of the guy's responsible for producing One Night with the King, a movie about Esther. He said that the point of the movie was to teach girls that they could be anything they wanted when they grew up! I am not kidding.

I had watched about half the movie awhile back before turning it off. It was bad in terms of script, acting, and the like.

Yeah, the movie is pretty bad. The main bad guy Haman is Gaius Baltar in Battlestar Galactica. I now know where he learned his rough accent he used in one of the last episodes of season 3 in BG to show he was really a commoner.

Yeah, it was low quality. I just can't believe the producer saying that the point of Esther is that a girl can be anything she wants when she grows up (a queen). Esther did not want to be the Queen! She was forced into it. It is so absurd.

I saw it. I missed the thread on why not to see it. I wasn't horrible. The real story was followed for the most part. The part that angered me is they shoved an anti-war message in it. The reason Vashti won't come when called is because she is against some war that the King is entering into. The love story aspect is pretty nice but the corny only she can see the stars of David in her necklace thing was really dumb. Ruined the whole ending. She is supposed to prove she is a Jew and Haman can't see the stars in the necklace but the King could.

Did you come away feeling that a girl can grow up to be anything she wants, such as a queen? If not, then according to one of the producers you missed the point of the story.
