Between Augustine and Aquinas

Does anyone know of a book-length treatment of the period of church history between the fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of medieval theology? Say, the time period between Augustine and Aquinas?

The period before Augustine and the period of Aquinas and after seem to be well covered, but my impression is that the time between the two men has been relatively ignored.

Any suggestions?

Jaroslav Pelikan's The Christian Tradition (v.3, The Growth of Medieval Theology, covering 600-1300) would also be quite useful.
