Puritan Board Sophomore
Brothers, since many are more well studied than me, I was hoping to solicit a bibliography on two different topics: first, the Westminster Assembly, it's work, theology, and historical context; next, Scottish theology and church historical. Thanks!

I can point you towards bibliographies.

I'm sure Warfield has one. Letham's work on the Assembly has several bibliographies. I can't reproduce Letham's since I checked it out from the library. Daniel Ritchie is a walking library on this topic, so he should know :;):

Thanks, Jacob.

Anything on Scottish history and theology?

Yes. I might get in trouble, though. Supposedly Torrance deals with it in Scottish Theology, to which Donald Macleod responds in "Dr T. F. Torrance and Scottish Theology: a Review Article." Between the two of them you can probably find some sources.
Torrance's neo-orthodoxy doesn't get in the way of his fairly representing Scottish theologians, does it?

Again, haven't read it so I can't say. I recommended it because I think there will be sources listed. If what you want is a bibliography, then neo-Orthodoxy shouldn't be the problem. If you want a reliable interpretation of Scottish Reformation, I probably wouldn't go to Torrance.

For the Westminster Assembly, you should try History of The Westminster Assembly of Divines by William Hetherington, The Westminster Assembly: It's History and Standards by A. F. Mitchell or Minutes of the sessions of the Westminster Assembly of divines.. edited by A. F. Mitchell and J. Struthers. There are many more but these are readily available online for free.

For an overall look at Scottish Theology, you should try The Theology and Theologians of Scotland by James Walker (available online for free) or Scottish Theology in Relation to Church History by John Macloed. This has been recently reprinted by Banner of Truth.

Thank you very much for the recommendations, especially the free recommendations!
