Billy Graham and John 14:6

I listened to Billy Graham and Larry King last night on the radio. I was ashamed and bewildered at some of the things he was saying. I don't think old age has matured his faith and understanding.

The interfiew revealed to me just what Billy Graham has become. He even refused to call evil evil. It seems he is looking for a union between Christians and Non-Christians.

The spirit of anti-Christ is not called such and Islam is not wicked and evil to him.

This quote floored me.

KING: But -- your Franklin once said, he was very critical of Islam. He called it evil and wicked. How did you react to that?

GRAHAM: Well, he has my views and I have mine. And they are different sometimes. I told him from the very beginning that there would be times when he would have to take his own positions. But he doesn't hold that position now. I think he said it off the cuff somewhere some years ago.

Some on this board have written retractions against things they had previously written, when they went from baptist to CT or vice versa. Perhaps God will grant Billy Graham grace and time to retract some things he's said in his later years.

I do very much pray that Billy Graham retracts his errors. He has been involved in the ecumenical movement for a half century and as I review his career he seems to be going in the wrong direction. But God is able to grant grace when sin has abounded, and so may it be with this man.

I don't remember him ever saying anything "good", really.. If you listen to his "classic" sermons he blames everything on demons ... not sin. *sigh*

My father-in-law heard the Gospel preached by Mr Graham many (many) years ago and was convicted of his sins and turned to God. Despite Mr Graham - thanks be to God for His grace & mercy. May God draw Mr Graham closer to Him and reveal Himself more fully and clearly.

It is truly amazing grace! God spoke through a Jack Ass once! Now I am the last person to call Mr. Graham a Jack Ass and that is certainly not what I am doing. I am only underlying the point that the Lord God, for whatever reason, has used Billy Graham in my own life and in the life of others. Is it not even the apostle himself rejoicing that the gospel is preached in envy and strife at Philippi? The Lord´s use of Billy Graham in my life is no certainty of truth, but I can point you the exact commandment for which I was deeply convicted of in my life. It was a conviction of righteousness, judgment, and truth and resulted in life everlasting. It was sin that I heard him preaching against and it was the Law that he in his idiosyncratic way preached. There may be some who will see this as a defense of Billy Graham, but it should not be seen so. I have a great distaste for both his methods and, in the very least, his truncated and sometimes skewed message, but the fact that has to be acknowledge is that God in some continuing measure has brought about sound believers from his ministry. This does not even make his methods or message normative just as I am sure the envy and strife of Philippi would not be considered normative. It is my view that his post could be written about one such as Charles Wesley. It is the Sovereign spirit that draws men to Himself.
