Shepherding a Child's Heart is worth reading even if you won't agree with everything in it. Where it's good, it's very good.

If you can wait a few weeks, I can also put in order my notes from a recent parent conference and share them here. I always put such notes into readable form eventually, and I should have time to do that next month. It expands on the ideas in The Gospel-Centered Parent study. I don't directly address covenant-child theology, but it underlies my thinking. I treat kids in Christian families as if they are young disciples in God's family, not as if they are little heathens. Teaser: Christian parenting is not so much about proper technique, but about being a parent who abides in Jesus.

Thank you, Jack! I would love that! I also added your book to my Amazon wishlist. I think I'll pick that one up too but please do send the notes when you get a chance!

Definitely intentional. Jack affirms the 3 Forms of Unity
I didn't mean to insinuate anything about @Jack K's beliefs regarding baptism. I just meant that maybe his statement about covenant children might have been a "happy little accident" (i.e., may have had deeper meaning than he intended) with respect to baptism. My comment was meant as a compliment.

Then again, Jack's a smart guy; he probably knew exactly what he was saying!

Many Baptists I know also treat their kids like young disciples, yet they believe baptism should wait until the kid can profess it with a certain amount of adult clarity. So while I do think "kids are young disciples" is a strong argument for paedo-baptism, I didn't really mean to make that point. Sorry.
