This is the book hubby has on the shelf and I was going to start with (to educate myself)...hubby is holding out to borrow Gentry's book from a friend as his friend told him that this book was baby food comparatively (I might need baby food).

It's pretty basic on the subject of Postmil. You shouldn't have any problem with it.

It is probably the best, basic intro to postmill thought. He also gives a brief overview of Reformed/Covenant theology. I thoroughly enjoyed the book

Mathison's book is okay, but I found it unconvincing overall. And I am largely sympathetic to his viewpoint!

I suggest reading Kenneth Gentry's "The Greatness of the Great Commission" and Iain Murray's "The Puritan Hope".

Mathison is good, but I also the recommendation for Iain Murray's The Puritan Hope and would add Loraine Boettner's The Millennium and An Eschatology of Victory by J. Marcellus Kik.
