Ok, i win the award for coolest title.

I found this (and the references) in Herman Bavinck, Reformed Dogmatics: Sin and Salvation in Christ vol. 3, p.145. I am really not interested in demonology, but this was neat.

Bavinck notes that the OT doesn't have a complete systematic analysis of demons, but there are some verses for consideration.

Goat Demons: (Lev. 17:7)So they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices to goat demons, after whom they whore. This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their generations.
2 Chronicles 11:15
15and he appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat idols and for the calves that he had made.

demons in general: (Deut. 32:17)

Lilith (Isa. 34:14) This is tricky. The ESV renders it "the night bird." The NJKV "night creature." The ASV renders it "night monster." Those are all the translations I have right now.

Vampire-like demon: Bavinck refernces Prov. 30:15. I am not sure that "vampire" can be inferred from it.

As I said, I am not obsessed with demons. I just though this was a neat refernce study.

Be careful about becoming too interested in demons. It sounds like you might be becoming obsessed with them.

I was just gigging you. :) You mentioned twice that you were not obsessed with demons, which sounded like, "thou dost protest too much."

Interesting stuff.

Esp. the Goat Demon. I never thought about it before but perhaps I should try to avoid all connections with paganism...

Does this mean when I get home tonight I should kill all the goats? No that might be a sacrafice...

Mebbe I'll just let them go free..
