First a Podcast, Now Seminary Training

First off, I really appreciate everyone who’s listened to or even just used the discount code for The Confessional Californian Podcast. It’s been a encouraging response and I hope to continue producing more content that glorifies Christ and excels at the stated mission of the show.

Secondly, I am asking for your prayers as I begin the Online MDiv program at Westminster Theological Seminary this next month, whilst also awaiting the arrival of our next baby girl. I don’t always choose the best times to follow the Lord’s calling, but I do believe His Providence is perfect and good…though sometimes painful.

I’m very thankful for the short time I’ve spent on this board, with such seasoned and zealous saints.

I’ve really enjoyed listening to your podcast, Aaron. It’s touched home for me on multiple levels, having grown up in California, listened to hardcore/ metal starting in my early teens, and worshipped in charismatic congregations. The anecdote about your Anglican friend was fascinating. I appreciated the contrast he made between hunting a spiritual “high” and simple, faithful obedience to Lord’s Day worship.

One suggestion: it might be helpful for your listeners if you post new episodes in one of these as you complete them. Old threads get buried over time, so that will help keep your podcast top of mind for folks.

Thanks, brother. I'm glad there's something value in these episodes. It really brought me back down memory lane: the people, the music, the memories. I can't help but praise the Lord for how He used all that to sanctify us and mold us. I spent years second-guessing my decision to leave the Charismatic world, spent more years criticizing it viciously whilst in the Cage Stage, but I now pray for those still in that world and that maybe they might hear and episode and start asking the hard questions. James the Anglican Priest was a true "divine appointment" and taught me a great deal about faith and worship.

I'll try and remember to post here when I drop a new episode. I just don't want to spam the boards while some of our more seasoned brothers and sisters produce valuable posts.

I work at the Regent University library as a supervisor; because I’m staff, tuition remission has made it possible to enroll in their mDiv program. Of course, it’s broadly evangelical and leans Arminian (though I’m sure there’s a Reformed group of folk somewhere on campus), but I’m countering that by supplementing my studies with the likes of Beeke, and others!
