I browse for news headlines of the day on several sites. I have been increasingly unhappy with foxnews.com for putting articles behind a register email only barrier; they are now doing this for the lead article (above the fold in old print news terms). So, I'm officially done with them. I watched them for years before the last election and regularly used their news site everyday; but no more.

Yep. They can’t sell your email if they don’t have it. This is only going to be more common. Ad-blockers have forced a lot of this is my guess.
 
I do not utilize mainstream media and haven't for many years. 99% of the time, they are behind 3 days on information. That plus being corrupted and filtered.
 
Unfortunately all the media sites (particularly the free ones) have an incentive to get views for ad revenue. Outrage generates more views than honest reporting.

Just yesterday I heard about a site called ground.news that aggregates stories from other sources and ranks the bias based on who is covering it. It can't be perfect but the idea intrigues me enough that I'm considering paying for it.

I'm definitely willing to pay for a service these days rather than have it be "free" and me and my data becoming the product.
 
I haven’t had much use for FoxNews ever since they turned their backs on Trump… and when they fired Tucker that was the nail in the coffin. They’re more dead to me than my dead mother!
 
I noticed that too. Also, I was literally about done with them anyway because I keep noticing sexual and sensual articles that I don't want to see. Conservative definitely doesn't mean Christian.
 
Fox has become a tabloid. Tons of intentionally "edgy" if still somewhat conservative articles, mostly cultural, and often with inappropriate click-bait pictures. Hardly any world news highlighted on the first page anymore, either.
 
It's the usual thing money before actual news the old pump up. Selling out Is what most people want it's like a soap opera everyday you get new parts of the story and you get a bonus you can judge the people in their fake news.

I got tires of literally every other article being about murder and/or sexual abuse.

I get that there are things going in in the world, but there seems to be an obsession with the latest murder mystery, or any kind of sexual shenanigan.
 
I read the Economist once a week for most of my "what's going on th the world".

I subscribe to the NYT Morning Edition email, the 10-point from the WSJ via email, and The Morning Dispatch email.

They all allow me to get a run-down of what's happening and I'll occasionally read the articles themselves. I don't pay for any of them.

I'm not interested in opinion as much as just a reporting of things going on.
 
1440 is a quick digest to your email.
Allsides is another site like Ground.
I had (have?) a digital subscription to the Financial Times. It's not too bad, some lean left others right (largely due to common sense economics).
 
I appreciate a recent state-wide news outlet that started up here, 1819. The guys that run it are Christians and conservative and they get into real issues on the ground here that people can actually get involved in. Not really pertinent to what happened with Fox News' but just thinking that local news may be a neglected area.
 
Fox and CNN twist information to fit the narrative that maximizes views from their perceived demographic. They are far from being a fair and balanced news station.

I rely on the Wall Street Journal and World Magazine / The World and Everything in it to give me my news. I also like the Daily Wire but recognize they are slanting on things like Fox. I find their reporting more insightful and convincing.

Rebel News is very good for USA and Canada. A conservative Jewish Canadian runs it.

Establishment news in Europe (not great but better than in the USA & Canada):

UK- Sky---24hrs free on YouTube (very biased but better than the BBC)

SRF-Switzerland (you need a VPN and German language only, I think, but the Swiss will tell you some of what the German public media censor).

I get the Daily Citizen headlines e-mailed to me and subscribe to "The New American" (John Birch Society bi-weekly magazine) and The Epoch Times web site (run by Chinese opposition). Any news I get other than that is from social media or podcast mentions.

They showed themselves to be a Deep State mouthpiece when they got rid of Tucker. Actually, before that. The only difference between Fox and CNN is that Fox isn't openly campaigning for the extermination of middle class America.

I have a junk email that I never check for things like Fox News's new email-wall for their website. I check it so little that I have to look it up when I want to use it for something.
