Knowing that women (especially wives) can sometimes get concerned about what men talk about when they're by themselves, I'd like to spread a little reassurance about the kinds of things we men talk about in the "Men Only Forum".
We talk about things like:
how much we like ironing
ways to cut down on beer consumption so we'll have more time to wash and wax the kitchen floor
creative ways to take out the trash
how much we enjoy trailing around with our wives at the mall
how much we enjoy deep, emotionally rich conversations
the fact that we secretly enjoy "chick lit" and "chick flicks"
and, of course, our deep conviction that sex is only for making babies
There, now! I hope I've put our PB women's concerns to rest!
Would I lie to you?
This is a totally, completely accurate list, if a bit incomplete. Richard forgot to mention 1. the deeply moving blow-by-blow accounts of the fashion shows, 2. the plot analyses of soap operas, 3. the character analyses of soap operas, 4. the Who's Who list of romance novel authors, 5. the memory bee for Cosmo, 6. the teen vocabulary lists (fortunately, this one doesn't take all that long), 7. biography details for the Spice Girls, and 8. the latest gossip concerning Desperate Housewives.
Lane, I'm totally stunned that I could have left out all this important stuff you just brought up. Why, the soap opera discussions alone contain thousands of post on hundreds of threads. Remember, Lane, how long the thread was on the question as to why the actor who plays Sonny Corinthos on "General Hospital" never seems to get older?
But, Lane, what the world outside the Mens' Forum really wants to know is: do you starch your skivvies before you iron them?
