Joshua 5:15
KJV 15 And the captain of the LORD's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
ECB 15 And the governor of Yah Veh Sabaoth says to Yah Shua, Pluck your shoe from your foot; for the place whereon you stand is holy. - and thus Yah Shua works.

These are my thoughts.
Where we come to hear the word of the Lord or serve the Lord or praise Him is holy ground because we come into His presence.

Live a life for Jesus.

Taking off shoes and praying does makr for a humbling feel
As is bowing or kneeling

But they are not the only ways to pray

Interesting the angel would say that.... most angels do not say to take your shoes off ... perhaps it is the angel of the Lord and no mere angel

There are many who hold to the idea that this verse is a Christophany, an appearance of the pre-incarnate Christ.

I am personally uncertain.
