Memorizing Scripture/Praying Scripture

I’ve been looking at older threads regarding scripture memorization and praying through scripture as a means of remembering scripture. Also read a little about ancient Christians chanting particular psalms. All interesting.

I’d like to open this thread for anyone’s tips for personal memorization, as well as helping children memorize.

I've been thinking about this topic. Chanting, praying, and meditating on a smallish set of verses seems to be a more ancient practice than the modern encouragement to gain perfect recall. The most quoted verse on the topic comes from the second section of Psalm 119 which says nothing about memorization and lots about rejoicing, meditating, delighting, and obeying. I wonder if the word better ends up in our hearts through a sustained engagement and application of a set of verses.
