My wife is a new iPod nano owner and she wants me to put lots of stirring movie music on it like the music from Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans, Boondock Saints theme, Friday Night Lights, and Dances with Wolves etc.

Anyone have any other ideas of beautiful music or favorites from the world of cinema?

If you can find the soundtrack of the original "Rollerball", all but one of the pieces there are great. Of course, it is classical music: Bach, Shostocovitch, Albinoni, etc.

The soundtrack from Schindler's List is great, too. Written by John Williams with Itzhak Perlman on violin.

Some of my favorites (besides those already mentioned):

Amadeus
Batman
Beautiful Mind
Black Hawk Down
Chariots of Fire
Gettysburg
Harry Potter
Kung Fu Hustle
Superman
Truman Show
Waking Ned Divine

The ones on my IPod are:

Rocky (of course)
Rudy
Gladiator
The Patriot
Chronicles of Narnia
Hoosiers
Forrest Gump
Cast Away
The Polar Express
The Lion King
The Untouchables

All three Indiana Jones movies have epic sound tracks.

Braveheart has swelling themes.

Rudy has a pleasant score as well.

Saving Private Ryan will make you cry however, even just the music.

The score to Terminator 2 is actually quite moving.

Alan Silvestri made Back to the Future so memorable and exciting.

Hook was stinker of a film with a good score by John Williams.

Air Force One actually has a triumphant score by the late Jerry Goldsmith who also conducted Patton.

I have a weird taste in movies, so some of these might seem a little left field.

Requiem for a Dream
Donnie Darko
Elizabeth
Last of the Mohicans (especially the love scene in Fort William Henry)
Twelve Monkeys
