The Basic Bible Doctrine page has a good selection of mp3 sermons. Does anybody know anything about Dr. S. Lewis Johnson? His credentials look like he's somebody worth listening to. Is he a dispensationalist? (I ask 'cause he went to school at, then taught at, Dallas Theological Seminary).

Yes; I think he is. Believer's Chapel has been around a long time; some of our members went there years ago (25+?) and got into Calvinism that way; but it was pretty much a Plymouth Brethren type environment (then; now?).

Thanks for your response.

I started listening to his first message about the attributes of God. I like what I've heard, though I only listened to a few minutes of it so far (I'm at work now and I'll listen to the rest at lunch when I can focus more on what he's saying). I liked what he said about how a wrong view of or incorrect thoughts about God's attributes leads to wrong theology or wrong behavior.

From what I know, Dr. Johnson was definitely dispensational but also most definitely a Calvinist. He taught Calvinism pretty strongly. My parents were introduced to much Reformed stuff at Believer's Chapel. Their tape library is quite impressive. I've been over there and they have tons of them.

Thanks for your response, Joel.

The two tapes I've listened to so far about God's attributes were very enjoyable. His Calvinism comes out in them some, and he even takes a swipe or two at those who hold to Arminian beliefs. I also saw a hint of his dispensational side when in one of the messages he told the people to turn to a passage in their Scofield Bibles.
