Do any PC users here use non-Microsoft operating systems? If so, which ones and why? Scott

Me! :) I use PCLinuxOS, why? No viruses, mal-ware, spyware. No blue screen of death and everything works out of the box. For the freedom it affords by not being locked in to one system.

Well Linux is between Flash Versions right now, Some Windows software works through WINE (a emulation sort of). Also I forgot to say it comes pre-loaded with everything one needs no extra software to buy and say there something that's not in the Software Repositoroes yet they can be requested.

Not a lot of games, but more each day and some windows games can be played with Cedega.

Wine Is Not an Emulator :) rather a reverse engineering of the win32 api. I have my mother on Xandros which is also a *nix, I use openBSD and OS X on my PCs I donlt reccomend either for novice user however (on a generic PC).

What software do you need to use?

I use SuSE 10.1. I love it for the simple fact that it is not windows. I have a dual boot system. Why? I use Windows for viewing DVD's for class. You can get it to work in SuSE but it will take some time and configuration. I also like it because of what historyb mentioned earlier. Those people who program viruses are targeting windows more so than linux.
