For the well read amongst you, can I ask which of the reformers/puritans you would recommend to read on the Ordo Salutis and where I would access their materials? I'm really just looking for recommendations and resources here.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Well, as a start, Perkins and Bunyan both created pretty well known flowcharts of the ordo. In his recent book The Whole Christ, Sinclair Ferguson compares and contrasts them in a helpful way, I found. There is an excerpt of that book linked below, from Tim Challies, as well as links his (Challies) updated "visual theology" of those charts, but if you google for them you can find the originals.

Many thanks for that. I wasn't at all aware of the Bunyan flowchart. That's very interesting.

Would anyone else add any further thoughts?

Many thanks Stephen.

I would be interested if anyone could direct me to the writings of Perkins & Bunyan which might supplement their respective ordo salutis charts?

Definitely Perkins "Golden Chain, " Witsius' "Economy of the Covenants." For discussions on the doctrines of salvation, William Ames "Marrow of Theology" , Thomas Watson's "Body of Divinity" , James Ussher's "Body of Divinity", Wilhelmus A Brakel's "Systematic Theology." For a really well done but more recent discussion of the Ordo Salutis, John Murray's "Redemption Accomplished and Applied" is a must read. Not all of those are technically Puritan but if you read those you will have a well rounded concept of the doctrines of salvation.

Is anyone aware of any prominent Arminian theologians who deal with the Ordo Salutis from their, albeit misinformed, perspective?
