Puritan Board Junior
Hello all. I am in the process of editing "Instructions about Heart Work" by Richard Alleine. EEBO-TCP/Project Puritas Text has made it very easy to work with. But, it is one of those books with no chapters, just a long running 300 page work. I came across SDG's version of it on Archive, in the borrow section, and am thinking about using the break pattern under "fair use" since I am not copying the work; which is plainly obvious from the text; but the SDG version does follow a logical pattern. I also am not copying the chapter names, just putting a CHAP.I, CHAP.II, etc.
My question is what are yalls opinion if its under fair use, or copyright? I looked up if chapter titles or book titles could be copyrighted; and it seems the consensus is no; but since I am not using the chapter titles, but will be using the same book title (since the work and title itself is in the public domain) I am not sure if using the same chapter breaks is pushing it? Any help would be appreciated. Also this work will not be sold, but is meant for no-cost public distribution if that makes any difference?
