Some encouraging and wise advice from John Newton:
There is one whom though you see him not, is always near you to show you his power, his wisdom and his goodness. He knoweth your path and though it should be through fire and water, he has promised to bring you safety out. Try, if in dependence on him, you cannot get through one single day; if you do, then when the morrow comes, make that a single day likewise, and leave the next tomorrow in his hands. And thus living one day at a time (and sufficient to every day will be the evil thereof) think of the future as a time which you may not live to see, or that if you do, he who cares for you now, will equally care for you then.
Remember likewise, that when you are at your wit's end, the Lord is not, though he says or permits many things to prove us, yet he himself knows what he will do. His plan is fixed and we may be sure it is a wise one in its whole comprehension...
You need not pray for difficulties, yet when they arise, you will have reason to be thankful for them. They will show you more of the wonder working God, than you could have known without them. Fight on and pray on and fear nothing for the Lord is with you.
