I note from the preface of my NKJV translation that the scholars signed a declaration that they believed “in the verbal and plenary inspiration of Scripture, and in the inerrancy of the original autographs”, and wondered whether anyone on here knows the text of this statement?
Also, do we know whether other translation bodies required their scholars to sign a similar statement?
Blessings.

I know that for the ESV in their materials there is a big emphasis on the plenary verbal inspiration of Scripture. I'm not sure if they had people officially sign a statment.

Interestingly I just read a paper from Bill Mounce (who is on the NIV committee) yesterday in which he stated that he believes in the "plenary inspiration" of Scripture but not "plenary verbal inspiration". He specifically took issue with the Chicago statement on that point and claimed it goes beyond Scripture. This struck me as significant because it particularly then played into his discussion of translation philosophy.
