I am needing a "modern" commentary for Numbers. Any suggestions? I was thinking of Wenham's Tyndale commentary. I prefer a commentary that doesnt waste too much ink with JEDP theory.

I have that one. It is the only commentary I have on it outside sets of K&D, and Lange's, Mt. Henry, and Mt. Poole (all which are much older).

The Tyndale is 240 pp. total. Introduction is 50 pp. I think Wenham is fairly reliable, and he doesn't seem to "waste too much ink" on JEDP in this commentary (per the series design--which is not the case with his lengthy treatment of Genesis, 2 vols, WBC).

Other suggestions:
Numbers: God's Presence in the Wilderness - Iain M. Duguid (part of the Preaching the Word series from Crossway)
-----Duguid is a WTS-C prof and pastor. I would buy this book.

Thanks for the info and second opinion on Wenham. (As you said above )The reason I didnt want discussion on JDEP is I have plenty of that in my copies of WBC on Genesis. : )
