Dear friends,

Just a note to let you all know that I have accepted a call from the Pompton Plains New Jersey Free Reformed Church. Lord willing, we will be with them early in 2010. Please pray for my current congregation, that they will receive a shepherd in due season here in Lacombe. We are going to greatly miss this congregation, but are looking forward to the next chapter of our life with our new church family in NJ. Thanks for your prayers.

:pray2:

Out of curiousity, what are the differences between the FRCNA and the URCNA? Or is the FRCNA closer to the RCUS?

Congratulations, brother! I pray God will bless your new pastorate and your present congregation. And welcome (shortly) to the United States.

The URCNA and the FRCNA are quite different. The FRCNA has close ties to the Heritage Reformed Congregations and the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing). Our roots are from the Secession of 1834 in Holland and are direct descendants of the Second Reformation in Holland. We are much in the lines of the Puritans in doctrine and life. The URCNA is the daughter of the CRC, which is Kuyperian. We are small (21 congregations) in North America. In Holland I think we have over 200 congregations. Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary is where we train our students with the Heritage Reformed. We share classes and profs.

We do however appreciate the URCNA, especially their best representatives, Pastor Hyde and Dr.R.Scott Clark. :-)

God bless you.

I recently listened to a live broadcast from Lacombe on Sermonaudio.

You were baptising a baby live over the airwaves. I nearly choked on my Sunday evening cocoa...

Blessings on you, brother. May the Lord bless you as you remain faithful to his call. And, hey, no change of voice needed . . . like becoming one of the Sopranos.

Welcome to NJ. I went to college up that way and it is pretty with all the lakes and rolling hills. I am not sure if you have kids, but the best thing about NJ is that it is a very homeschool-friendly state as far as the regulations go (some legislators occasionally try to change that but it gets voted down). Other than that it is a highly regulated and taxed state, but beautiful once you get away from the NY and Philly suburbs. May God greatly bless!
