the Reformed Church in America split

Some how I was not aware of the schism in the Reformed Church of America over the sodomite issue

From the Christianity Today article:

"Other conservative-leaning churches in the RCA, as well as those in the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRC), and the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), are also discerning whether to join the ARC, according to Vink."

Unfortunately, the newly formed ARC seems to be leaving the question of women's ordination open. This is not good. Having just finished an intensive course on Scottish church history, women's ordination never, ever ends well; it is the death sentence to Reformed orthodoxy. Unless this infant denomination changes its fence-sitting on this issue, they will end up just like the communion they left.

Why would a “more conservative” PCA church consider going to ARC with ordination for women unsettled? By definition it would seem ACR is less conservative than a baseline PCA church.

Especially when the EPC and ECO exist.

Probably a reporter's error. From the PCA, it would more likely be a liberal-leaning church. But if neither the reporter nor the editor are familiar with Reformed alphabet soup, those kinds of mistakes get made.
