Dr.Boice died June 15,2000.I really valued his preaching and books.Of course, most of his books were sermons put in print.I attended several Reformed conferences where he spoke as well as some services at 10th Presbyterian. He autographed "Standing On The Rock"for me.
I have a friend who was a year older than Dr.Boice.John said that at 11 years of age Boice was godly and excellently gifted.Donald G.Barnhouse told a 12 year old J.M.B.that he would be the pastor at 10th one day.
His messages are so biblical and clear.I miss him.Yet his ministry for the Lord still continues.

I had never heard about him until after his death. Someone on the forum provided a link to his radio show where he went through the book of John. I enjoyed listening to a number of his messages from John.

That must have been neat to have met him in person and to get your book autographed.

We used to listen to him every Sunday morning as we were getting ready for church.

I have his funeral service on tape.

Wow. I can't believe it's been four years.

His book on the Parables of Jesus was very important in my becoming more properly Reformed. Before then, I was battling against antinomianism. His book called Amazing Grace is probably one of the better intros to the 5 points in the last 20 years...that's my opinion. It's straight from Scripture, and very devotional. He was a faithful minister to his church, to the cause of Reformed Theology, and even started up a school in the inner city of Philly...a wonderful servant of God.

Dr Boice was the first Calvinist I read after I had become reformed. Desperate for a clear teaching on the atonement (bear in mind that I go to an Arminian college) I devoured his book [i:00e523d7c9]The Doctrines of Grace[/i:00e523d7c9]. I still had some questions, as I thought that he did not spend enough time on the "problem passages." Nevertheless, Dr Boice laid the foundation for my understanding of the atonement.

His sermons and commentaries are great. However, what I have found most neat is his tape lecture on the bondage of the will, "Man the Sinner, Man the Saint." It is available at the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals.

Has anyone read or listened to his sermon:"Christ the Calvinist"?I forgot what book I saw the title in.It was a book of sermons by many Reformed preachers.
