This evening I read 2 Samuel 23:13-17 and Isaiah 40:31. A much more profitable way to spend the time than some of the other choices available this evening; the real winners are those who follow the Lord with a glad heart over the empty pleasures of the world.
My pastor mentioned how a historian of religion categorized the super-bowl as the “central worship event in American culture” and how if aliens were looking down at us, they’d see the superbowl as our national act of worship.
Personally, while I don't condone birding as a Sabbath activity, on a spectrum of good-better-best (i.e. if one is not going to be worshipping), one would be better served enjoying God's creation and looking for the elusive superb owl.
