I would opt for the one that has the cross references.

It really depends on how you intend to use it.

I prefer having the cross references as they provide the first level to compare scripture with scripture.

I like to read a text Bible and have a reference Bible when I want to look up something specific. Generally the type is larger in the text Bible (70 year old eyes, and one with a cataract) and the overall size/thickness is more comfortable/convenient.

For a great reference Bible; The Westminster Reference Bible has more than double the usual 80-90,000 references and is a Cambridge KJV text. Even if I was reading an ESV, I'd still like to have the WRB for its volume of over 200,000 references.
