From time-to-time there are links to Wikipedia. Since it seems that anybody can add information there, it seems there would be a high likelihood of misinformation being added. From what you've read at wikipedia about church history, theology, etc., how reliable do you find the information? Have you found things that are incorrect?

I've heard people say that Wikipedia is useless because people can type out whatever they want. I am not aware of many errors that I have seen on there, and if there are, then we throw out the bad and keep the good right?

I think it meshes out.

Though, for the longest time the entry on "conservatism" was a bunch of garbage. They called hardline communists in Red China "conservatives." What a bunch of reductionist intellectual non-sense?

If it's tempered by editors I don't see a problem with it. I like looking things up on Wikipedia. I even found the old super hero saturday morning cartoons on there just by looking up Batman. :bigsmile:

Even by posting godless youtube video URLs, you are unintentionally leading people into a world of point-and-click sin and accidental exposure to sinful things.

Besides, Colbert posts the legal authrorized video officially on his web site. You don't want poor Colbert to be deprived of advertising revenue do you? Only support the official Colbert web site and its videos.

"Truthiness," "Wikiality" named TV words of year

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Truthiness" and "Wikiality" -- two of the words popularized by political satirist Stephen Colbert on his TV show "The Colbert Report"-- were named on Sunday the top television buzzwords of the year.

The word-trend group Global Language Monitor, in its annual survey of words from television that had an impact on the language, also cited the words "Katrina," referring to continuing stories about the hurricane's destruction; "Katie," a reference to Katie Couric's move into the nightly news anchor role at CBS News; and "Dr. McDreamy," a nod to a character on the breakout hit "Grey's Anatomy."

The doctor is played by Patrick Dempsey and follows in a long line of television "dreamboat" physicians.

The survey was released to coincide with Sunday night night's presentation of the Emmy Awards, American television's highest honors.

Global Language Monitor defined "truthiness" as used by Colbert as meaning "truth unencumbered by the facts." "Wikiality," derived from the user-compiled Wikipeida information Web site, was defined as "reality as determined by majority vote," as when astronomers voted Pluto off their list of planets last week.

Paul JJ Payack, president of the Global Language Monitor, said, "Some of these buzzwords will quickly pass while others will be embedded in the language for years to come.

Global Language Monitor analyzes trends in word usage and word choices and their impact on the various aspects of culture.

From reading the article I got that some people wanted to make Batman a homosexual character but that the authors of the comic said that he wasn't. And that George Clooney said he played him gay, but even Clooney knew he wasn't gay.

What I said what was Wikipedia said. There was a whole section on potential homosexuality in the comic but the Wikipedia said there was pretty much nothing to it. Sorry for the confusion.
