THE SCARLET KNIGHTS WIN!

Oh man! Rutgers beats Louisville! This is the biggest win in the history of the university! What a game. Rutgers shutdown the Louisville offense COMPLETELY in the second half.

GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!

Congrats!

I don't especially care about the bowls anymore, or national rankings, but is the upcoming MI-OH the "real" championship game? I'm not sure the loser will have the time needed to climb back to #2...

Oh, by the way, I HATE the whole BCS and Nat.-Title chase. It has destroyed the college post-season, and emptied it of enjoyment for me. No one cares about conference play and titles anymore.

If there is a HUGE program in state, they are in your face constantly, no matter if you care about them or not. They "make you" care. Sure, thanks.

And if you ain't a HUGE program, or unless you have a nice, improbable run like Rutgers here, or Louisville (tough break guys--tsk tsk), even the locals hardly know you.

And $port$ is all bu$ine$$.

The scene at Rutgers just after the clock expired against Louisville. You have to understand...this program has NEVER beaten a ranked team while they were also ranked. New Jersey earns respect!

Bruce, I don't care right now about Michigan or Ohio State. I don't care about the BCS, CBS or NBC. All I know is that the Rutgers football program has just had its biggest win in its history. As a long time Rutgers fan I can finally crow!

All that frenzy, over a pigskin!

(I like celebrations, don't get me wrong)

But think of it--how would you define the passion of most of those people present differently from idolatry?

Let me say, I am very happy for your enjoyment of this moment.

I think that after all, the fan is short for fanatic.

Rutgers jumps to # 8 in the polls! Wow. If they run the table they could possible be playing for the national championship. Who would have thunk?

Well, if they do go undefeated, they will definitely get a warm-weather game in January. Early props.

Something tells me the stands will be filled with "squires" and "maids".

Half of whom will be suntanning in the 58 degree weather, and the other half will still be wearing their SCARLET ski-jackets, because that's what you wear at outdoor sporting events in January. Duh!

Woo-hooooooooo!
(I was born in northern NJ).

Wake up!!! You're dreaming!!!

John - I was dreaming in August when I thought Rutgers had a chance at making the top 25. I was dreaming in October when I was hoping they would become bowl eligible. I was dreaming last week when I was hoping for BCS bowl eligibility. I shall continue the dream!

If they beat West Virginia and go undefeated, they SHOULD play for the National Championship, simple as that!

That's a Himalayan "if", though. Won't happen. WVU is gonna win out and get the Big East's BCS bid.

Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Mountaineers !

They deserve respect, that's for sure! They have achieved a ton. They are not, though, the caliber as the top dogs, not yet at least. They may beat a top dog once, in a bowl game but playing the lot of them week in and week out would earn my respect more and would, in my opinion, then earn a right to play for the championship.

:2cents:

I am not a fan of that kind of thinking because Penn State suffered under it for years unfailr (in my opinion) and I never want to see another team have to go through that. You know who never had to though, Nebraska! For years and years they played a cupcake schedule and were never "punished" for it., it seems they were the only team able to get away with it year after year after year.

Gee...I heard the Louisville fans and sports pundits say the same thing last week.

Just when they were starting to convince me they are losing to Cincinati pretty bad in the 3rd quarter-looks like a possible let down.

It is. So much for my BCS hopes. Oh well, first year in the spot light. I guess I have to turn my attention to left-handed lacrosse.

Cincy is an underrated team. They played OSU close until halftime, they led Virginia Tech into the 3rd quarter, and had a chance to beat Louisville on the last play. The only team they've gotten throttled by from start to finish was WVU (per Coach D'Antoni's own words).

I definitely thought Rutgers had a chance of dropping this game, but believed they would pull it out by 7 - 10 points. They just came out flat and bungled it from start to finish.

But to their credit, I don't think they are the "same old Rutgers." Schiano is a good coach, and he'll continue to make them better and better, provided he stays.
