Resources For Searching For a Pastorate

I meant these denominations. Also, check with the stated clerk of the presbyteries you might be interested in. They usually have info on empty pulpits. Networking is probably the best thing to do. Other than that, checking the denomination websites is the proper thing to do.

We have a vacant pulpit!!

Is there a section on the website of the RCUS listing open pulpits?

The weather in Minot is practically perfect In my humble opinion.

Click on the most recent Abstract of Synod on the "Government" page of the RCUS website. You will find a listing of congregations and their ministers (or lack thereof) in the front. The 2008 Abstract is not yet posted.

If you do look into ministry in the RCUS, be sure to research and understand some of the distinctives:
  • Strict subscription to the Three Forms will be required (no exceptions).
  • All church members are expected to uphold the confessional standards.
  • Six day creation is firmly upheld.
  • Congregational voting is conducted by male heads of household.
  • Ministers and elders are members of their congregations (unlike Presbyterian polity).
  • The historic Reformed view of justification is jealously guarded against Shepherdism and the Federal Vision.

It also depends on whether the "looker" is searching for an already established church or is willing to start a church plant (extremely difficult, I know, but an option). The former assistant pastor of my church started a church plant. He was very young, about 30, had been out of seminary for just a few years, and used his time as our assistant pastor to train for starting a church plant.

Also, from what I hear, the PCA has designated over 100 areas where it wants to plant churches, but there are very pastors willing to step up to the task.

Isn't Minot in ND???

Monthly average high temperatures . . .
°F 18; 25; 37; 37; 67; 75; 81; 80; 68; 55; 35; 23

Where I am, average high temperatures are . . .
°F 67; 68; 69; 71; 73; 77; 82; 84; 82; 78; 73; 68

Would going to Minot be a call or an act of self abnegation?

South Texas could always use another Reformed church (you should ask me about when I visited a local PCUSA church; yikes!). Not only that, but the mountain cedar is great for clearing out your sinuses (you sneeze and sneeze and sneeze and...). To put the icing on the cake, it SNOWS HERE! No, really it actually does! Well, maybe not snows, but we do occasionally get flurries.

We could always auction Ben off! I am sure that the bidding would go quite high! :)

Maybe Ben could go participate in the Annual Presbyterian Draft. I see it now . . . Team ARP takes Ben and a prayer to be named later, his sister and mother go to the PCUSA in exchange for a future draft pick.

Hey, you guys. Hands off Benjamin. The ARP saw him first (I'm not counting the PC(USA) here); he's ours, and it's going to stay that way! And we need more ARP churches in KY!

On the other hand...
