Did I Really Hear This?

So, today my family and I were eating at one of America's most popular restaurant chains, and this song was blaring on their playlist:
"Who cares if hell awaits?
We're having drinks at heaven's gate
Don't pray for us
We don't need no modern Jesus
To roll with us
The only rule we need is never
Giving up
The only faith we have is faith in us"

So Chick-fil-A can't play music that says we need Jesus, but it's okay for a restaurant to say we don't need Jesus. Something sounds way wrong here, besides the clear public rejection of the Savior.

I could be wrong, but when I've been in Chick-fil-a, they would play Christian music, but took out the lyrics so it was just instrumental.

I don't know if you heard it or not, but a quick Google search shows it is the last stanza of "Modern Jesus". The real question is - why would you go to a restaurant that played that genre?

That's a great point. And on the flip side, this restaurant we just ate at apparently could care less about offending Christians. Our respect for religion seems to have seriously decayed over the years.

The restaurant's management almost certainly didn't do it deliberately. Like all restaurants (and supermarkets, etc.), they need some ambient music to fill the room, and they probably just have a subscription-music service to provide that. I doubt that they pay any attention to what the music is, just as long as there's music in the room so the customers aren't eating (or shopping) in dead silence.

How would you necessarily know beforehand?

For example, today I went to a Korean BBQ restaurant for lunch. I'd been there many times, and their ambient music had always been K-Pop.

Today, they were playing track after track of some horrid junk by rapper A$AP Rocky (I looked it up). This was not normal, and I had no way of knowing beforehand that this sort of garbage was going to be on.

This is true. I have music going on in my offices and I rarely have any idea what is playing (other than a lot of Maroon 5 because one of my employees loves them and always points it out). I don't listen to the radio myself so I don't know the stations or what the lyrics of popular songs these days are. If I had it my way I'd play jazz or classical music but the staff would either complain or fall asleep so it's generally some sort of pop music. I'm sure some of it is objectionable if I listened closely, but we do have a pretty conservative community so I think the mainstream radio stations keep it fairly clean.

You tell the manager when you leave the reason you won't be back, and then tell him or her to be sure and tell the owner that you'll leave reviews on Yelp and Google so they won't have to deal with customers that they don't like. "This restaurant caters to the hip hop crowd, so be sure to consider them if that's the ambiance that you like".
