Was curious what Christian authors are really liked here on puritan board. Seems like many love the older, historical authors over many of the more modern ones. List out some authors yall really enjoy reading or listening to.

Overall: Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, Calvin, Edwards, and Barth. I read them all for different reasons, and I (personally) find that very few come close to them in terms of intellectual stimulation. I engage them all as "conversation partners."

Devotionally, I enjoy reading Spurgeon's sermons more than anything else.

Scripture tells us again and again that faithfully following Christ will result in persecution. So I recommend reading authors who write on persecution. Wurmbrand, Foxe, and Corie Ten Boom have a lot to teach us about consolation and strength in the face of suffering and opposition.
