This is something um trying to figure out. Do I read the entire OT first, then move on to the NT, or do I read a few chapters out of both the OT and the NT daily? How do you guys conduct your daily Bible readings?

People do lots of different things. The basic principle behind most annual reading plans is that if you read four chapters a day most days of the year, you will go through the whole Bible in a year. So some people read straight through (my preferred approach). Some people follows M'Cheyne's plan and read 4 chapters each day, but every chapter comes from a different place in the Bible. Others will read through 3 OT chapters and 1 NT chapter every day.

What plan you choose isn't as important as sticking with it. You can always do a different plan next year. The important thing is to read and to believe. A good challenge for the rest of the year would be to read one book of the Bible every day. If you did that starting tomorrow, you'd have read all 56 books of the Bible by the end of the year - not too shabby. You could schedule your reading depending on what you have going on any given day - e.g., you're at home with nothing to do, read Isaiah. But if you have a very busy day and hardly any time to yourself, read Obadiah.

This quote from Brooks has stuck with me and made a huge difference: It is not hasty reading--but serious meditating upon holy and heavenly truths, that make them prove sweet and profitable to the soul. It is not the bee’s touching of the flower, which gathers honey--but her abiding for a time upon the flower, which draws out the sweet. It is not he who reads most--but he who meditates most, who will prove the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian.

I no longer focus on how much I read, but that what I am reading works its way into my heart and life.
