John Owen Crossway vs Banner of Truth

Hello,
I want to read Owen's works on Sin and Temptation and find too many options at the outset(no complaints, it is confusing though). Do I read the RK Law abridgments by BoT Puritan Paperbacks, The Works of Owen Vol 6 by Banner, or the new Crossway works, volume 15 on Sin and Temptation? Regarding the last option by Crossway which is an HB at $45 on Amazon, I noticed years ago Crossway also released the same works in PB that are only $20 on Amazon by the same editors, Taylor, Kapic, etc. Any suggestions on which is the best version? If anyone can confirm if the Crossway PB is the same as the latest Crossway HB release, I'd just assume save $25.

I own the Works by Banner but not the others. So, I will just say that I wouldn't recommend the abridgment by Law.

I second not taking an abridgment. You can get vol 6 of the Banner version for $22 from RHB. I'm not sure the new Crossway edition includes everything that is in that in any of the volumes they are releasing. I was hopeful the new edition by Crossway would chase all of Owen's references ("on which I have discoursed at large already" - where?) but they have not. They have some, but missed some that I really wanted in the editions I've checked. So, costs less, more works, not missing anything in terms of better references ... suggests to me banner is the way to go.

I'm not sure Crossway vol 15 includes his exposition of Psalm 130 which is in vol6 of Banner's works and that's really not to be missed ... eventually.

If you're not already aware, Crossway have split up the material differently to the Banner.

The Crossway PB is 464 pages whereas the HC is 640 pages, because it also includes 'A Treatise of the Dominion of Sin and Grace'.
The Banner of Truth set is the 19th century William Goold edition. Volume 6 includes the exposition on Psalm 130 as Phil notes above, but does not contain 'A Treatise of the Dominion of Sin and Grace', which is in volume 7.

By the way, you Crossway offers 30% off by signing up free to Crossway+ which would bring the value down to $31.50 for the new hardcover edition.

As far as actual content goes, the PB Crossway (as far as Mortification is concerned) is the best ‘updated’ version I’ve found. It’s not really updated, mostly restructured as in titles and headings that I think make the work easier to follow.
