I heard that before resigning, he gave the development department 10 years worth of product ideas to keep the company afloat. talk about leaving behind a legacy.

p.s. Mac all the way. I'll never go back.

talk about leaving behind a legacy.
While his accomplishments in this life were impressive, it's the kind of legacy that Ecclesiastes calls vapor.

It's not a well known fact but King Ahab created an incredible Aquaduct system that survives to this day. It allowed the capital to withstand siege for incredibly long periods because it allowed water into the city and enemies could not figure out where they were getting money. It's an architectural marvel.

And God inspired nothing about that tunnel to commend King Ahab for it. He goes down in Biblical History as an idolater.

I know this is about Computers but I work in the IT industry. There is no industry where your work is more quickly eclipsed by the new thing and it's a good example of how much chasing after the wind much of what we desire is.

That's right Rich. I programed a voter registration system for a county in Florida. Just a couple of election cycles later the new registrar threw it out.

I had also worked (and have a patent) on system to display stock trade information on a hand-held device. Today it is something that is just a query away on a smart phone.

While it's true that wealth and fame are mere vanities surpassing to the greatness of knowing our Lord, we should not pounce on rich people, as such. We should appreciate that it takes a certain degree of divine gifting to excel in business the way Jobs did and he did leave behind remarkable impact - we live in a world that has been shaped by vision. I'm by no means exalting the man. God has lifted up a man, and God has brought him down to the depths.
