I agree! They use period instruments and sing/chant in Latin or German and their music has great energy. I've got about 7 of their CDs and listen to them several times per week. They look a little strange but I try not to look![]()

Adam,
I'm not a music major but I realize that CC are not REAL medieval music, but I still like them
I also suggested Piffaro. What do you think about them?

Sorry, but from the samples that I listened to on their site, I'd have to say that these knuckleheads are just a bunch of hacks who are ripping off what little musical scholarship they have come across, and mixing it with European dance club ideas. That's not to say that you can't enjoy them, but real medieval music it is not.
They attempt to reinterpret history on this point, but anybody who has studied early music can tell you that they are flailing to reintroduce what they only think the pagan music of the middle ages may have sounded like. There are examples of both, and there is very reliable scholarship in the area, contra to what they state in their little history of Western music. Medieval and Renaissance tunes can get pretty rowdy though, just in a different manner.
Maybe their full discography would paint a different picture had I the time to listen - I'm just not very certain it would judging by the showmanship seen in the application of their makeup!

Going my merry way now.
