I'm putting together a Sunday school lesson on the background to the Reformation. That is, the political, social and economic backdrop to the Reformation. I have book materials, but I am looking for any internet materials (especially ones that have pictures, maps, etc. that I can use to supplement a PowerPoint presentation).

Any help that can be provided (links, etc.) would be great. Thanks in advance!

I've appreciated Carl Trueman's insights on pre- and early-Reformation conditions. He has some audio up on the WTS sebsite.

One thing I heard him say had to do with the way we sometimes think that Europe was just eager for the Reformation to break out. When in reality, life was changing for individuals and families like it hadn't for a thousand years, and this even before Luther steps onto the stage and (so he's often accused/misrepresented) begins "breaking up" the one institution of security (the church) that remains to people who are anxiously seeking for stability in a storm. But there is a grain of truth in that, isn't there?

All in God's Providence.

I think so, or else he would have probably ended up like Hus and others who suffered a similar fate.
