Sermon Preparation and Personal Devotion

Greetings!

I am fairly new to preaching, and I don't do it full time, however, I am wondering about reconciling sermon preparation and personal devotions. I have read where some integrate the two into each other, and others keep them separate. For those of you who integrate them, using your personal devotions to help further sermon preparation, how do you go about doing so?

As a Pastor who preaches weekly, I keep my devotions separate from my sermon prep with the knowledge that my devotions affect my preaching in the long term. I think this is wise because ministers are sinners first, and preachers second.

For those who preach once in a while, it might be different.
