I am surprised that the SBC doesn't take a stand one way or another. But then the church would split. But then you would know what you are getting, right?

It has been my experience that the deacons have too much power in many SB churches.

I head several sermons denouncing the doctrines of grace from my last Baptist pastor. If he hadn't been so hardline, I probably wouldn't have looked at Presbyterianism, and so probably would not have become a paedobaptist.

I'm an SBC member, and our deacons have no power. The pastor suggests something, and then the church votes on it. We are lucky if they follow his leadership.
