While driving around. All these were on church signs:

An independent holiness church sign read:
"This war is the beginning of good things to come"

A church of God sign read:
"Salvation is free if you'll just pay the price"

A United methodist sign advertizing thier Sunday morning service read:
"A celebration of music from the African continent" 9am to 1:30 pm.

Speaking of stupid things one saw this week: What is up w/ litterbugs? I mean, I saw a guy at a stoplight, open his door and lay a cup of pea soup on the ground like it was a very normal thing to do. is this retarded or what?

Always keep a litter bag in your car. It doesn't take up much room and when it gets full you can just toss it out the window!

My wife once watched a woman stop her car at the intersection, open the driver side door and put a box with half a cake still in it on the road, then drive off.

Even those whose mental capabilities are off don't do stupid things like that.

This is a little off topic, but my late grandfather told me of a joke his shop played on their foreman back in 1935. My grandfather was a plumber for the MTA (subway system) in Manhattan. One day the boss came in with a brand-new straw hat that was given to him by his wife. He hated the hat but promised his wife he would wear it to work. Well the boss grumbled about it to the guys in the shop. At the end of the work day the boss threw the hat into a trash can on the platform. He figured to tell his wife that he must have misplaced the hat at work. My grandfather thought he would have a little fun. He picked up the hat and pit it back on the boss' desk. The next morning the boss found the hat on his desk. He fumed. He took a break and walked out of the subway onto Broadway. He found a trash can down the street and threw the hat away. Little did he know that two of his workers were watching him do it. They retrieved the hat, waited for the boss to leave for the day and put the hat back on his desk. Needless to say the boss was more than a little irritated when he came to work the next morning. This time he took a pair of scissors and cut the hat into a hundred pieces. He put the pieces in a paper bag and again went up onto Broadway. He walked aimlessly for about 15 minutes, finally throwing the bag into trash can after he was sure no one had seen him. He was wrong. My grandfather and three other guys were enjoying the saga and watched their boss throw out the hat for the second time. The took the bag out of the trashcan and brought it back to the shop where the painstakingly glued it back together and put the hat back on the bosses desk. The next morning, after being greeted by his hat one more time the boss went into a rage. He cursed at everyone in the department and threatened to fire them all! He took the hat and put in a metal trash can and put a torch to it. It was engulfed in flames and was reduced to a pile of ash. Satisfied the boss went back to work. Not to be outdone, my grandfather and the shop steward went to to a local retail store and purchased an identical straw hat, right down to the red and black silk band. They left work a few minutes early and got to their bosses house before he got home. They took some of the ash from the burned hat and "dusted" the new hat to make it look like it just survived a fire. They pinned a note that said, "Welcome home" on the side of the hat. The boss came to work the next morning and called an impromptu meeting. The profanity laced tyriad that ensued will not be covered here. Suffice to say that the shop got the best of their boss. My grandfather tells it in such a way that I was on the floor with laughter.

Was it raining at the time?

:sing: "Someone left a cake out in the rain ..."
