Yes. I am unaware of any vaccine..........the Flu shot given seasonally is for the typical flu bug; whether that even works is as well another issue.

Scott you just unmade my day. What a Christmas I have to look forward to, and a 2006. An Avian boogeyman behind every cough. Thanks for the info, I got to get cracking researching this stuff.

So how soon do you think these birds with the disease will reach the continental U.S?

Slippery, for the time being, just avoid playing with sick birds. At this time there have been no reports of human to human transmission of the flu.

But everyone is afraid that the virus may mutate to allow human to human transmission. When that is reported, then you may panic.

But I'd advise you to read Matthew 6 instead.

I suspect all flu originally started out as a bird flu.

The current formulation of the flu shot is designed for the current strains of the flu common among humans. The bird flu is not common among humans. If it jumps the species barrier we have no idea how it will differ from the current strains of the flu common among humans or from the bird flu itself.

Will the current vacine provide any protection against it? That is mere conjecture at this point in time.
