Ubuntu + Edubuntu

I added Edubuntu to my Ubuntu and it asks for a password which I thought would be the one I used for Admin actions in Ubuntu but it doesn't accept it. I have no idea how to get into Edubuntu. I wanted to check it out for my daughter.

I assume you tried your own password, too?

When you setup your Ubuntu system I would expect that your account would have defaulted to being in the admin group. Not sure why it won't work now.

I've tried everything I can think of. Perhaps I can just start over. I am trying this all out to decide on whether to use it and to see if Edubuntu would be nice for my daughter. Now to learn how to uninstall.

The first account that is setup is setup as an administrator, so if this was your own id then it should be that password. This usually happens when you setup an additional account and try to use that one. It essentially has to be in the 'admins' group to be able to run privileged programs. Your easiest route is to re-install Edubuntu.

What did I miss when I installed Edubuntu so as to not repeat this problem if I should re-install? I was not aware of adding any additional account.

I figured it out. I decided to do a side by side installation so that if the process of installing jogged my memory on anything I could then go back and access my previous install. Well, I see now that when I chose my name it fills in a sign on name below and so it was just my first name for my sign on. I had forgotten this. I am able to sign in fine now.

And Todd, in the installation process at one point you can choose to sign in automatically. Apparently that is what I chose and why having to login was bypassed.
