Birthday suggestions

My wife's birthday is coming up soon. I'm thinking about getting her a DVD movie series (something along the lines of Cadfael or Dr. Who). We ditched television over twenty years ago, so I don't even know what all is out there that might be worth considering. She's also enjoyed the TV series Monk (which her mother taped for us). She enjoys mysteries.

Any suggestions on a good series that would also be family friendly. When we watch something, it's a BIG deal around here -- popcorn, snacks, and such.

Doctor Who is great - I've been buying the new season collections and am up to Season 4 (a birthday present from my dh). You can find them on Amazon priced in the $36-45 range. But, be careful - Dr Who is extremely addictive!

Thanks Ethan for giving this a nudge. Thanks Sue for the suggestion. I'm torn between getting her Dr. Who or Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett. I'd better decide soon, her birthday is fast approaching.

What about Miss Marple? I guess you can't go wrong with Sherlock Holmes though.
