I've never had a blog before, but this could be like a preparation for doing one.
There is so much in the way of resources, the last wake period it began to sink in for me. Camden Bucey, host of Christ the Center @ Reformed Forum, said in the video for Calvin's Institutes that if he could tell his young self anything, it would be to read well. When faced with a mind boggling amount of resources, i must tell myself the same thing. But i still believe that for myself i could make use of a perhaps very unorthodox, eyebrow raising method.
Method is a word that both Mastricht and C. Hodge use at the beginning of their magisterial theological works, you must have a method you follow. But i then say to myself -- those were for teaching modules, teaching methods, that were designed for other people. God is not the God of confusion Mastricht says to me, and i am left dumbfounded, his stern gaze at me seems to suggest that if i have my own divergent way, to keep it to myself, or just share it on an intelligent website, where people will recognize it for what it is, some foolish harebrained approach to a serious topic.
An idea, when i go out for my 20 minute walk, read a 5 minute thing 4 times, a chapter/psalm of Scripture, the Apostle's or Nicene Creed, some portion of a Reformed book that has proved helpful, or mysterious, and as i actually walk, i mentally move through that portion of written material.
By seeing the amount of material that i desire to spend all my time with, even when i want to, it can still take the breath away, and leave you weak, at that point i must say to myself like Mr. Miyagi in that Karate Kid meme received yesterday, to breathe, take a deep breath, and take one step at a time, don't set up silly rules for yourself, let God's Word be that rule, not your human perspective of what a tall order would be, where there i see hundreds of books being a tall mountain, where the edifice of just one verse of the Bible towers over all books ever written.
